Sold out

Last week’s decision to allow two new roundabouts on the A7 at Falahill revealed the planning committee of Scottish Borders Council (SBC) at its weakest.

With the sole aim of reducing construction costs for the railway, the real burden has been landed on Borderers. Road safety and journey times are compromised and the extra cost of maintaining two roundabouts falls to SBC.

Only three members of the planning committee, councillors Hume, Watson and Logan, saw what was happening. The rest were hoodwinked and yet again we have been sold out by a council incapable of seeing the bigger picture.
