Skateboard enthusiasm

I refer to the letter in the Southern Reporter of May 17 concerning the proposal to build a skateboarding facility in Jedburgh.

The writer says the skateboarding facility in Kelso, at the eastern end of Sheddon Park, is “now hardly ever used”. This is far from the truth. Normally youngsters use it daily from after the schools finish until they go home for tea or, probably, to bed. It is busy all day Saturday and most of Sunday. On a fine day, the average attendance is about 10 with up to 20 at the weekend.

I suggest that plans for a skateboard facility in Jedburgh go ahead as it will be well used. However, there is a need for a safe site for the youngsters.
