FOUR Cub Scouts – Angus Lathangie, Douglas Young, Adam Potter, all pictured, and Kieran Gillon – completed their challenges to receive the Chief Scout Silver Award from Kelso provost Fiona Scott. This is the highest award available in the Cub Scout section.

To achieve this, the boys had to complete six challenges – promise, community, fitness, creative, global and outdoor.

For the community part, they helped to organise a Christmas fair, raising more than £200. The boys did a presentation on international charities and chose to donate some of the money from the fair to the WWF to sponsor three Amur leopards in the global challenge.

These quartet are now ready to move onto the Scout section where they can begin the challenges for the Chief Scout Gold Award.

Volunteers are needed, especially for the Scout section, and anyone interested should contact group Scout leader Elizabeth McIntosh on 07565 218992 after 6pm or by email, macbisse@btinternet.com.
