Galashiels dealership Clelands saw sales soar last month, with a rise of 13.5 per cent in September 2013 compared to same month last year.
Overall UK sales were up 2.6 per cent in the year to date.
Six new models and continued demand for the V40 premium five-door hatchback has been part of Clelands success, as has the increased number of used Volvos being driven off the forecourt last month as Borderers displayed their increasing appetite for the premium Swedish brand.
Clelands’ September success is part of a great year for Volvo Car UK, with year-to-date sales figures running 2.6 per cent higher than 2012 and order books at their highest level for three years.
The figures follow the successful introduction of the new S60, V60, XC60, V70, XC70 and S80 models, along with continued customer demand for the premium V40 hatchback. John Cleland, director at Clelands, Melrose Road, Galashiels, said: “These sales figures are a great result for Clelands and further evidence of how Volvo is capturing the attention of premium car buyers in the Borders with a fantastic range of vehicles.
“We’re delighted that we are welcoming more Borders motorists through the doors of our showroom and we hope to see even more new customers in the coming months.
“With new products fuelling this growth, we can also look forward with confidence to the arrival of the new low emission Drive-E engines in January, plus the all-important XC90 launch next year, as we seek to further increase our offering to motorists.”
The UK’s top selling Volvo models in September were the V40 (2,082 sales across V40, R-Design and Cross Country models), XC60 (1,054) and V60 (671).
