SELKIRK Parish Church is hosting a second art exhibition in aid of its own renovations this weekend, writes Sally Gillespie.
Starting this afternoon (Friday), the show at the church will feature about 40 works of local artists, and runs until 4pm on Sunday.
One of the organisers, Lynda McCraw, said: “We’re hoping to raise between £400 and £500.”
The first exhibition held by the local art club and the church took place last year when there were 70 pictures on show and the weekend event raised around £600.
The art club offered to do the show again this year and have asked members and artists further afield if they would like to exhibit.
The money raised will go towards the church’s fund to upgrade facilities. Selkirk parish estimates it needs £160,000 to make repairs, with the first priority being the installation of a disabled toilet.
There will also be coffees, teas and home baking for sale, along with other goodies such as – organisers hope – marmalade and cakes.
