A RECENT bid to drop a Scottish Borders Council magazine to cut costs has failed.
Councillor David Paterson – in a question-and-answer session at a meeting earlier this month – suggested, given the council’s need to make across-the-board cuts, stopping the SB Connect magazine.
But council leader David Parker said SB Connect is “a very useful source of information” and “a good, value-for-money solution for communicating with the Borders public”.
He added: “It has proven an excellent tool for communication of information and means that council departments are able to convey specific information.”
And he said any similar publication to insert in all local newspapers would cost more than £72,000 per edition, whereas the current magazine cost was £12,000.
