SCOTTISH Borders Council’s new chief financial officer says he is looking forward to the challenge of providing quality services within the authority’s tight budget constraints.
David Robertson will move to the Newtown St Boswells HQ of Scottish Borders Council (SBC) on September 19, having worked in local government for almost 20 years.
Mr Robertson will come from the City of Edinburgh Council, where he held the post of resources manager.
He has previously held senior, high-profile managerial positions in the finance, education and children and families departments in Edinburgh.
Tracey Logan, SBC’s director of resources, said: “I am delighted to welcome David and look forward to working with him.
“He brings a wealth of experience to this position and his skills and knowledge will make an invaluable contribution to the council’s senior team.”
Mr Robertson added: “Scottish Borders Council has a strong reputation as a forward thinking and well led organisation.
“I’m greatly looking forward to helping the Council address the challenge of continuing to provide public services of the highest possible quality within the financial resources available.”
Richard Webb previously held the post of chief financial officer, which was advertised as carrying earnings of up to £85,000.
