Robert Burns’ Border tour

Have your say

In 1786, Robert Burns tired of Edinburgh society and decided to see something of his native land, and in May 1787 he set out on a tour of the Borders.

Ian Landles is giving the first of two lectures about this tour, for the Tweeddale Society at Peebles’ Eastgate Theatre on Tuesday, March 7 at 7.30pm. Mr Landles is a retired principal teacher of history at Hawick High School, and a Hawick man to the core, with a great love of its history and language, but his interests stretch well beyond the town.

He is an author and broadcaster, singer-songwriter, poet, charity fundraiser, and is in much demand as a speaker at Burns Suppers. Mr Landles’ second talk on this subject will be presented in March 2015. Tickets £6, members free.
