SOIL Association Scotland is running a practical workshop on developing on-farm renewables near Lauder next month.
The morning session, covering what farmers need to know about setting up a biomass, hydro or wind project – including installing, grid connection, planning, feed-in tariffs and the renewable heat incentive – takes place at the Lodge, Carfraemill.
Experts at the session include Scottish Agricultural College senior consultant Neil Harrison, Green Highland Renewables’ head of project development Alex Reading, and Scaled Energy director David Stirling. A representative of the Energy Saving Trust will advise on saving energy on the farm.
The afternoon offers a visit to Over Langshaw Farm, near Galashiels to look at an Endurance 50 turbine.
