The Northumberland Theatre Company’s tour of Rallying Round starts at Bowhill Little Theatre tonight at 8pm.
The play is described as a road trip full of laughter and tears as young and old collide on a journey of discovery.
North East writer Stewart Howson, who also stars in the two man play alongside young up-and-coming talent Umer Ahmed, was inspired to write this story based on his love of taking part in vintage rally events.
In Rallying Round old soldier Airchie cons his young ‘carer’ Mo into giving him a lift to...Monte Carlo. It’s a journey that Airchie used take in his classic rally car with his old pal Dougie, although as the journey progresses Airchie increasingly becomes confused about the route and the even the destination.
Stewart said: “I hope it’s a play that people will find both laugh out loud funny and extremely moving. It’s basically the story of youth, age and two very different worlds colliding with compassion.” See other Berwickshire and Northumberland dates at www.northumberlandtheatre.co.uk.
