Putting their art into it at Peebles

Peebles Arts Festival opened on Saturday and brought Peebles High Street to a standstill.

A big thank you to all our committee members for organising the banners, exhibition trail, poster distribution, minutes of the meetings, booking of events, running of venues, discussions, our new website and, of course, our spectacular programme – we are all so proud that it was completed and brought in on time, as usual by the inimitable Iain whose family is in our thoughts.

A big thank you also to all those who are performing, running a venue, providing equipment or helping out.

Claire Garnett received the Robert Noble Trophy for her amazing and dedicated work through the years, bringing music to everyone and for her relentless work with Peebles Players.

Somehow the magic worked and as the time came for this year’s Beltane Queen, Amy Gilfillan from Kingsland Primary School, to cut the ribbon, the sun shone and all was right with the world in Peebles.

A special thank you from all the committee to Mandy Durkin for working tirelessly to help, cajole and organise everybody all year to make the festival work.
