SCOTTISH Borders Council will not be putting stickers on its wheelie bins advising householders to pull rather than push them.
The suggestion comes from un-named contributor to the August edition of the local Elder Voice magazine who sustained a broken arm in a fall while pushing a receptacle.
“At a second hospital visit, the consultant looking at my notes said: ‘Another wheelie bin victim!’.
“Since then I’ve been telling everyone that you should never push a wheelie bin. I’m surprised how many don’t know this.
“Wheelie-bins are designed to be pulled so why does it not say so in the bin itself?”
A spokesperson for the council told us: “We advise people to handle bins in a way that is suitable and comfortable for their capabilities.”
