Police Scotland probe after woman found with serious burns on a street in Selkirk

A police investigation is underway after a woman was found badly burned on a street in Selkirk in the Scottish Borders.

Police Scotland say she is in a critical condition in hospital.

The alarm was raised and police alerted around 7.20am today (Wednesday) when the woman was spotted on Hillside Terrace at Tait’s Hill

Police confirmed the un-named woman was found with serious burn injuries.

A spokespersonsaid: “The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Scottish Ambulance Service were also in attendance and the woman was taken to Borders General Hospital where she is currently in a critical condition.

“Enquiries into the full circumstances surrounding this matter are ongoing.”

Hillside Terrace forms part of the A7 and diversions are in operations with drivers warned to expect delays.

A forensic team and CID officers are at the scene

The incident is opposite Selkirk High School but no staff or pupils are involved, the local council has said.
