Volunteers will undertake a socially-distanced litter pick along the banks of the Gala Water this Saturday.

The recent relaxation of restrictions means that these group activities are now able to take place across the region.

This event, hosted by Gala Waterways in conjunction with Galashiels Community Council, will see the riverbanks cleaned of litter on June 5, between 10am to noon.

Volunteers are asked to meet at the riverside car park opposite the Transport Interchange, where you’ll be tasked to tidy a particular spot.

Safety equipment, such as gloves, bags and litter pickers will be provided, but it is recommended that you come prepared, wearing stout shoes or boots.

For further information on the event, contact Liz Jardine on 01896 664739 or 07592 705402.
