NEWTOWN St Boswells and Eildon area have a new website, thanks to the efforts of local community council secretary Roger French.
The new facility took four months to build, with no professional help, and aims to be more interactive, he said.
Mr French continued: “A lot is happening in Newtown and Eildon, but often much goes unnoticed and it is hoped that villagers will use an important facility on the website to submit their comments and highlight interesting events. Its success will be dependent on people using it and giving input about what’s going on, so there is a twoway flow of information.”
The site has more than 60 pages and covers about 14 village groups, village history, news, future plans as well as contact information for local shops and businesses, travel and emergency services, community council news, along with minutes from meetings and ‘job lists’.
Mr French said: “Requests were made for less text and more graphics, so approaching 200 pictures and diagrams are used.
“It is more readable, more user-friendly and contains much more information, and it has a new interaction facility so that two-way communication is possible, and you are encouraged to give your views and comments.”
