Mum treated with respect

In light of reports in the national press over the last couple of years about the standard of care homes in the UK, I feel obliged to tell of my own experiences of a care home closer to home to redress the balance.

My mother became a resident at Milfield Gardens Care Home, Jedburgh, some eight years ago suffering from advanced senile dementia.

From the first day she was treated with the utmost respect and consideration by the staff. She soon adjusted to life in a care home where activities were varied and numerous. The meals were excellent and choice was offered at every mealtime.

The family and myself would like to thank all the staff and management for the kindness they have shown in looking after my mother, including regular updates as to her health and requirements. She felt safe and secure right up until her very last day.
