colleagues at Galashiels builders Murray & Burrell Ltd gathered at the company’s Roxburgh Street headquarters recently to wish George MacQuarrie, plant manager, a happy retirement.

George, of Croft Street, Galashiels started with the firm in the summer of 1968 as a lorry driver. George has worked with every department of the company from bricklayers and joiners to plant operators and painting and plastering.

“His vast experience will be sorely missed,” said managing director Michael Burrell.
