MEMBERS of the congregations at Trinity Church in Galashiels and Caddonfoot Kirk travelled to Dumfries and Galloway last Tuesday for the induction of the Reverend Morag Dawson to her new charge.

After almost eight years in Galashiels, Mrs Dawson is to become the minister of Dalton linked with Hightae linked with St Mungo on a five-year reviewable tenure.

It will be their first minister in five years, and Mrs Dawson, who was joined by her family, said she was overcome by the welcome she received.

Among those who joined in the packed church at St Mungo, five miles from Lockerbie, were Alan Dodds, Moderator of Annandale and Eskdale Presbytery, along with the Rev C. Bryan Haston, the Rev John Pickles, and the Rev I. Scott McCarthy, who preached the sermon. Mrs Linda Spence was the organist.

They were joined by the Peebles and Melrose Presbytery moderator Tom Fairbairn, secretary Jack Stewart, the Rev Callum Macdougall, of the Old Parish, Peebles, retired minister the Rev Rachel Dobie, and the Rev Tom Burt, minister of St Andrews in West Linton and interim moderator for Caddonfoot and Trinity.

Later, everyone packed the hall for a social, which was chaired by the Rev Kate Vivers, interim moderator at Dalton, and Mrs Dawson was among the guests who were presented with bouquets.
