Archie Fisher appears at the Eastgate Theatre on Saturday, May 3, as a curtain raiser to August’s Innerleithen Music Festival.

The veteran Scots singer-songwriter, master guitarist, and for 27 years the host of BBC Radio Scotland’s ‘Travelling Folk’ programme, has now made his home in the Borders, a decision no doubt helped by his love of horses.

One of the concert organisers, Robin Dempsey, told TheSouthern: “Archie Fisher has a worldwide following and has been at the forefront of Scottish folk music since his leading role in the folk revival of the 1960s. He’s been an inspiration to many a budding musician.”

Opening the concert are lively Scots folk band Deleerit (Scots for ‘going mad’). Tickets cost £12, from www.eastgatearts.com, or 01721 725777, or from Scotlight in Innerleithen.

Innerleithen Music Festival takes place August 15-17, with full details are available at www.innerleithenmusicfestival.org or from Robin Dempsey on 01721 729949.
