Maxton raid sparks fresh police appeal

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to any suspicious activity in Maxton on Monday, after a house was broken into and personal items stolen.

The thieves’ haul included what the police described as items of “significant sentimental value” and officers want to hear from anyone who may have noticed people walking on the roads and lanes in and around the Maxton or St Boswells area.

Police are also interested in any reports of strangers calling at doors in these areas on Monday or sightings of people in the fields leading from Maxton to the Jenny Moores Road estate in St Boswells.

Similar crimes occurred earlier this month in the Heiton and Roxburgh areas, and anyone with information on any of these incidents is asked to call the police on 01450 375051.
