CLAIMS by a man that he was raped by two male attackers near his home in Tweedbank are now being branded as false, writes Bob Burgess.
Police launched a major enquiry last month after a 28-year-old claimed he had been subjected to a sex attack in a secluded area near Gunknowe Loch.
But after fresh questioning of the man who made the allegations he has been reported to the procurator fiscal for wasting police time.
After the initial report a police tent was erected over the claimed scene of the attack and uniformed and plainclothed officers began door-to-door enquires.
Police also issued a public appeal for witnesses. It is expected the man will appear at Selkirk Sheriff Court at a later date.
