BORDERS MSP John Lamont presented the prizes in his annual Christmas card competition in which a winner and six runners-up were chosen.
Mr Lamont said: “There were hundreds of entries from all across my constituency and they were all of a very high standard. In the end, though, Maia Lyall’s entry from Kelso High School was deemed the best.
“My congratulations also go to the runners-up who drew some fantastic pictures. I was delighted to be able to present all of them with their prizes in person at their school and I know everyone there was proud of their efforts.
“This year my Christmas card was sent to thousands of homes and Maia’s picture is on the front of every single one. My thanks to all of the other schools and pupils who entered and for making this one of the most competitive years yet.
“My thanks also to Sainsbury’s, Lothian Estates, Buccleuch Estates and ScottishPower who sponsored this year’s event and provided the prizes.”
