Top chef Albert Roux paid a visit to Sprouston Primary School on Tuesday as part of his latest culinary plan to teach children about healthy eating.

The chef’s Adopt a School initiative celebrates its 25th anniversary this year – although Sprouston is the first school in the Borders to be chosen.

Mr Roux, who started the three Michelin-starred La Gavroche with his brother Michel, has recently established a presence in the region by opening a Chez Roux establishment in the Roxburghe Hotel & Golf Course.

The head chef at the hotel has recently relocated to the Borders and his daughter is a pupil at the primary school.

Mr Roux also sponsored a competition at the Borders College catering course recently, with top restaurant placements on offer to the winning student.
