MELROSE Music Society will play its part in National Chamber Music Day next Saturday, September 15.
The society hosts the Scottish Reed Trio (pictured, top of page) at Milestone Garden and Leisure in Newtown St Boswells at 1pm – exactly the time that some of Scotland’s finest chamber musicians perform across the country.
The event has been arranged by Enterprise Music Scotland to celebrate chamber music and to introduce it to new audiences.
Scottish Reed Trio, Frances Pybus, Heather Kent and Catherine Earnshaw, formed in 2008. Each had appeared in prestigious venues such as London’s Royal Albert Hall and Barbican and Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw.
Enterprise Music Scotland said: “For the second year running, National Chamber Music Day will see 75 musicians in small groups performing in unusual locations all over Scotland. The project will include the biggest variety of ensembles Scotland has to offer.”
The aim is to promote chamber music and to make the public aware of local music clubs or societies who, between them, will arrange some 500 concerts during the next year in venues across the country.
