Win tickets to Borders Barmy Army show

BORDERS Barmy Army soldiers will be donning their kilts for several fundraising events during the coming months.

The charitable chums have put together a list of fun activities ahead of their assault on the London Marathon in April, in aid of Whizz Kids.

Their recent car boot sale and fun day at Stow raised more than 530 and it’s hoped that their upcoming challenges and shows will do even better. They’ll be spending Hallowe’en with the well-documented ghosts in Jedburgh Castle jail and the inaugural Borders Barmy Army National – run by pantomime horses – at Kelso Racecourse on October 17.

But first, on September 6, they are joining forces with local equestrian cabaret act Les Amis D’Onno at Lanton Hill Farm in Jedburgh – and Southern readers can win one of two family tickets to the show.

Featuring Jacob Martin – recently returned from filming the new Robin Hood movie with Russell Crowe – the event promises some superb trick riding, stunts and circus skills, as well as combat routines. A special guest has also been lined up to entertain the crowd during the interval. Refreshments will be available. It must be stressed that the event is not suitable for people who struggle with stairs, as the walk up to the venue is on a small slope. Seating is on canvas on a grass banking.

Tickets are priced adults 7, children/conc. 4 and families (two adults and three kids) 18 – contact Lee Myers on 07974 435540 – but you could win one of two family tickets by answering the following question.

Which Hollywood star plays Robin Hood in the new movie?
