SOUTERS braved horrendous weather conditions as Selkirk celebrated its annual riding of the Marches, writes Kenny Paterson.

The Friday morning event is the culmination of the Common Riding celebrations, with around 390 mounted followers joining Standard Bearer Gavin Henderson around the Royal Burgh’s 14 mile boundaries.

After receiving the Burgh flag, Gavin led to the cavalcade through the River Ettrick and up to the Three Brethern before returning via The Toll for the eye-catching Casting of the Colours.
