The young man chosen to lead Kelso’s summer festivities is Ross Henderson, it was announced in the town last Friday evening.
The 21-year-old butcher is following in family footsteps, for his father Jim was Laddie in 1987 and his uncle, Colin, Kelso Civic Week’s MC, was Laddie in 1980.
Ross of Ferniehill Court said: “I’m very pleased. I’m looking forward to meeting new friends and being involved, doing the rideouts and socialising, and to our own Kelso Civic Week being a week to remember.”
The Kelso hooker went to Edenside Primary then Kelso High schools before becoming a butcher with Martin Baird Butchers in Melrose. Hobbies include horse riding, golfing and keeping fit at the gym.
He started riding aged about six and first completed the Yetholm ride in 2002.
Proud father Jim and brother Mark, 17, will follow Ross in the Yetholm cavalcade this summer, while mum Wendy supports on foot.
