Reel chance to fall hook, line and sinker for fly fishing
Adults wishing to try their hand at fly fishing should take the bait and head over to The Roxburghe Hotel at Heiton for a rare chance to learn the skill, writes Jessica Simpson.
TweedStart, run by the Tweed Foundation, is offering a free opportunity for adults to learn all about fly casting techniques, entomology, river conservation and much more, with experts on hand to offer help and advice on the fisherman’s first steps. The event is being held on Saturday,September 22, and runs from 11am-4pm.
Eoin Fairgreive, the group’s angling development officer, is keen for as many adults as possible to attend.
He told us: “It’s free, and open to everybody to come and participate,” he said. “We are trying to get a broad range of adults from their 20s to their 80s so they can have a shot and learn a bit more about the river and technique.”
Those wishing to attend the event must bring warm clothing, waterproofs and stout boots or wellingtons.
