Priorsford performance pleases in Burns poetry contest

Peebles pupils proudly took part in the annual Star O’ Burns Primary School Poetry Competition organised by Peebles Callants’ Club.

The event was held in Kingsland Primary School where Halyrude and Priorsford joined the hosts last Thursday night.

In section one, the boys and girls from Primaries 3 and 4 were impossible to separate and Jess Towse (Halyrude), Katie Blackwood (Kingsland) and Emily Carrick Anderson (Priorsford) were placed first equal.

This was followed by Primaries 5 and 6 – 1, Katie Paulin (Priorsford); 2, Isla McQuaid (Kingsland); 3 (equal), Imogen Smith (Priorsford) and Olivia Napier (Kingsland). In the final decisive P7 section, Priorsford’s performance clinched the trophy with first and second going to Molly Falconer and Campbell Hunter respectively, while Kate Hodson came in third for Kingsland.
