Parents in Scottish Borders offered internet safety advice

POLICE, councillors and the NHS in the Borders have joined forces to hold workshops for parents worried about their children’s safety while they are using the internet, writes Bob Burgess.

The hour long sessions are free and have been developed with guidance from the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre and will be delivered by local integration officers.

Constable Rachael Stevenson, the integration officer for Galashiels and Earlston commented: “People may be wondering if what their child is doing online is safe, or worried about the impact of cyber bullying.

“These events are designed to make online parenting simple and help people stay safe.”

The sessions are on October 18 at the community centre, Walkershaugh, Peebles and October 25 at the council chambers, Albert Place, Galashiels. Both begin at 12.30.
