z POLICE are appealing for witnesses after thieves tried to steal a black Yamaha motorcycle from outside a house in Gun Terrace, Earlston, between 9pm on Monday and 8am on Tuesday. The vehicle was recovered in a car park nearby, but it had been tampered with.
z A 24-year-old man has been charged with production of a controlled drug after two cannabis plants were recovered from the loft of a house in Dickson Street, Hawick.
Police were responding to a tip-off received on Tuesday night and searched the house with the owner’s permission.
A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
