BORDERS MP and Secretary of State for Scotland Michael Moore officially opened the new £10,000 Stow play park on Saturday.

The facility in the grounds of the village’s primary school is a timber trim trail – similar to an adventure trail -–varying in difficulty and promoting wellbeing in children. The cash to build it came from the Long Park Wind Farm Community Trust Fund.

Mr Moore said: “It was an honour to open this new play park. I am sure this facility will provide much fun and enjoyment to local children here in Stow for many years to come and it is a fantastic addition to the school.”

The park was designed to enhance playtime for children aged five to 11.

Also attending the opening were Stow and Fountainhall Community Council, Stow Parent Council, the community fund’s local advisory panel, as well as representatives from wind farm developer Wind Prospect and EDF Energy Renewables which runs the farm.

The trust fund receives about £45,000 from EDF for community groups in the Stow area.
