Blaze, Nai Nai and Robbie, who are Ashoka Bichon Frisé, were three of the early arrivals for the Kelso Dog Show which is being held at Springwood Park this weekend (June 14 and 15).
The trio are being shown by David and Sue Walklate from Crewe in Cheshire.
Yesterday, organisers said they were delighted with this year’s entry, which sees an increase of almost 500 dogs on last year.
And, for the first time in the championship show’s history, members of the public will be able to bring along their own dogs.
“We believe this will be very popular,”said Brian Stevenson, secretary of the canine section. “Dogs need to be over six months, and owners need to confirm the pet has been vaccinated. There is no charge for spectator dogs attending.”
Judging starts at 9am on both Saturday and Sunday, with the grand finale of Best in Show being staged around 5pm on Sunday.
In addition, visitors can browse the more than 50 trade stands, and as well as household name breeds, some of the rarest breeds in the country will be on show.
Car parking is free and admission is only £5 for adults, £2.50 for children and OAPs.
