SELKIRK Junior Band triumphed in a youth contest in Galashiels recently.
The young musicians won the preparatory section (12 years and under) of the Scottish Borders Brass Band Association youth band contest in the Volunteer Hall on January 20.
Band spokeswoman Lynne Kemp said: “The adjudicator, Les Neish, was really impressed with the sound they made for such a small band, and really enjoyed their programme.”
Meanwhile, Hannah Kemp came second in the Junior Solo contest and also gained a Gold Award, and has qualified for the Scottish Championships which will be held in Livingston tomorrow (Saturday).
