IT’S holidays and a horse please for cash prize winners in Jedburgh this week.

For four households won a total of £40,000 in the People’s Postcode Lottery on Saturday.

Radio DJ Judie McCourt went to Allerley Crescent to award the lucky players after TD8 6JX came up in the Saturday Street Prize.

The People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador said: “I am so thrilled for the four winners. As they all played with one ticket, each player won £10,000. It’s lovely to hear the many different ways they plan on spending their winnings – the local travel agent may see a peak in bookings!”

Winner James Hunter was “thrilled” said his wife, Joyce who continued: “We just couldn’t believe it when we saw how much we had won! We are treating ourselves to a cruise around the Mediterranean. We will also be treating our five grandchildren – one of them has already asked for a horse!”

The happy grandmother added:“This win will just make things so much easier.”

Another winner Adrienne Smith said she was “amazed and shocked”, adding: “My daughter finishes university next year, and is hoping to go travelling to Australia. I will now be able to go and visit her while she is away!”

And Alan and Catherine Cook were also looking out holiday brochures and said: “We are overjoyed at our win.”

The fourth winner of £10,000 is Shirley Pringle.

Ms McCourt said: “As well as winning big prizes themselves, these winners have supported some amazing charities: £14.9 million has been awarded across Great Britain, with all the money raised by players in Scotland, being awarded to charities in Scotland.”

Young person’s charity GYP Borders received more than £2,000 last year, allowing it to develop its ‘6S in the Kitchen’ programme, encouraging young people to develop independent living skills. The funding paid for installation of a new kitchen, allowing the charity to continue to offer a cooking facility – a valuable resource in their work with young people.
