Jed’s been a bit joyless

I COULDN’T help noticing the lack of jubilee parties in Jedburgh. Few places actually held them around the area, which I found disappointing, writes Taylor Franchetti.

We see pictures and films of the jubilees that have passed and I can’t understand why, in Jedburgh, there was no large community gathering. I could have counted on two hands the Union flags around the town. There were some street parties or small village parties, but no party large enough for the whole of Jedburgh. I feel that this is dreadful.

We too deserved to share the memories that our grandparents had, but we have missed out on what will most likely be the only diamond jubilee of our time. Where has the community spirit gone?
