A 28-YEAR-OLD man was hospitalised after a midday attack in Hawick town centre.

Police say the victim was walking along the High Street on Monday when two men approached and then assaulted the man.

He was taken to Borders General Hospital with a head injury and later discharged but police are now hunting his attackers.

The first is described as being a large build, 5ft 9ins tall, wearing a light blue hooded top with brown stripes, with the hood pulled up to hid his face and hair.

The other is also of a large build, 5ft 7ins tall with blond hair. He was wearing a black jacket and was walking a small brown and white dog.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: “We would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who has any information that may assist.”
