GOAL IS £250,000 FOR DISEASE RESEARCH

A FORMER England footballer and two Aston Villa masseurs stopped in the Borders last
week during a charity ride in support of Villa captain Stiliyan Petrov.

Pedal for Petrov aims
to raise £250,000 for leukaemia and
lymphoma research, after the player was diagnosed with leukaemia in March. Villa staff Alex Butler (right) and Andy Smith (left) and former international midfielder Geoff Thomas (back), a leukaemia survivor, rode into St Boswells from Celtic Park, Glasgow on Wednesday, before departing for Newcastle’s St James’ Park the next day. The trio arrived at the finish line in Birmingham on Sunday.
