A 55-year-old man was taken to Borders General Hospital after being cut free from his car in St Boswells on Tuesday evening.

The man was driving through the village’s Main Street at 5.20pm when he is believed to have become unwell and as a result collided with two parked cars.

Fire crews from Galashiels and Jedburgh attended the scene, around 100 yards east of Mainstreet Trading, along with paramedics and police.

Firefighters cut the roof off the vehicle, a Ford Focus, and assisted paramedics in removing him before he was taken to the BGH for treatment.

His injuries are not believed to be serious.

The road was closed for around an hour-and-a-half.
