Crash leads to search

AN early morning search was mounted on Saturday when a Vauxhall Corsa was found overturned on the A703 between Peebles and Leadburn.

There was no trace of anyone in the area at around 1.30am and fire crews using thermal imaging cameras joined a dog team in what police described as an extensive search of the area.

A police spokesman said that the driver, a 37-year-old man from Peebles, was traced hiding in a garden shed.

He’s been charged with failing to stop and failing to report an accident.
