A SERVICE bus operated by Munro’s of Jedburgh crashed off the road and into a field between St Boswells and Kelso at around 10pm on Tuesday night.

Fortunately only the driver was on board and he escaped uninjured after the vehicle left the B6404 near Charterhouse crossroads.

Ewan Farish, director of Munro’s, told TheSouthern that it appeared only superficial damage had been caused to the bus, but added that full mechanical checks would be carried out.

“The bus failed to take the corner because the road was icy and greasy, and when the driver turned the wheel it just went straight on,” said Mr Farish.

No service were affected by the crash.
