Body found in search for former Selkirk pupil
A BODY recovered from a Yorkshire reservoir is believed to be that of a former Selkirk High School pupil.
Father-of-two Neil Bryson, 50, was last seen leaving his Yorkshire home on Wadman Road, Scholes, at around 6.30am on Tuesday, November 27, to go to work for a health authority in Bradford.
But a two-month search has ended with the discovery of the body at Broomhill Reservoir at Holmfirth near Huddersfield on Saturday, which was not recovered until the next day by emergency services because of bad weather.
Mr Bryson, an NHS health manager, left his Scholes home on November 27 for work, but never appeared.
Officers for West Yorkshire Police carried out a major search involving divers, sniffer dogs, mountain rescue and a helicopter in the area of Yateholme Reservoir – one of Neil’s favourite walking spots – where his car was found abandoned in the afternoon of November 28.
His wife Janice, 49, and sons Jack, 20, and Harry, 24, also appealed for information following his disappearance.
Back in November Mrs Bryson had said: “Everyone is absolutely devastated by this, it is so out of character. I just need to get him home, the boys need him home.”
She directly appealed to her husband to get in touch: “Neil, I just want you to know how much I love you and want you home.
“It’s OK to come home. We can work through whatever has happened. Me and the boys want you to come home so please get in touch and tell me you are OK.”
