Learn from Edinburgh’s mistakes

I wonder if members of Scottish Borders Council have been watching the debacle over the Edinburgh tram project and thinking that the same could happen here with Borders rail?

Has it crossed their minds that the Borders, like Edinburgh, could be made to pay vast sums of money and that we may never see a train in this region

I hear that the council has already spent a large amount of money and that they have paid inflated prices for houses that have been built on the line. What will happen if this project is cancelled?

I hope councillors will look and listen to what is happening in the capital and learn by Edinburgh’s mistakes – and also think long and hard before they risk more of our money in the next few years for a scheme that may end as an unmitigated disaster for the taxpayers of this region.
