KIWI author AG Taylor has scooped a Heart of Hawick book award with his debut novel.
The New Zealander’s Meteorite Strike took the prize for the nine-to-12 category.
Heart of Hawick award organisers said the book “struck a chord with the children with its alien virus, conspiracies and super powers, and was a very worthy winner”.
In the picture book category, for children aged four to seven, The Big Bottom Hunt by Lari Don was victorious.
This is the fourth year that the awards have taken place. They involve 10 schools and more than 800 children who read books by newly published children’s writers and decide who should pick up an award.
