The month began with the Final of the TopSpec Winter Dressage Series when we were delighted to welcome Suzi Law from TopSpec who brought along her scales to weigh horses and ponies after the long winter.

The outright winner of the series was Kirsty Brewis riding Monkey, a horse owned by her mother Alison, on an amazing 37 points.

Monkey won or featured in the top placings at all the fixtures. We wish Kirsty and Monkey the best of luck for the forthcoming Eventing season.

Kirsty also took the reserve spot with Dennis. Kirsty and Dennis are well known on the eventing circuit and last year completed their first Advanced together. On March 5 we organised a Kent and Masters Arena Event Blair Qualifier for the second year running.

This event again proved extremely popular with over 60 competitors fighting for the qualification points in the BE90 section.

Local Rider Ellie Meldrum and Sylvester 60 took the top slot in both the BE90 and BE100 section. This was a remarkable achievement for the 15-year-old Jedburgh-based rider.

Second and third place in the 90 section went to ISEC members Duncan McFadyen and Mileage For Milo and Alex Edgar and Benaughlin Lady respectively.

Second and third in the BE100 section went to Alex Moorhouse who travelled over two hours to take part.

The National Schools Equestrian Association qualifier on March 19 once again proved to be very popular attracting schools from as far afield as Durham and north of Edinburgh.

Local schools Kelso High, Jedburgh Grammar, Lauder Primary and Selkirk High all qualified with Individual and Team places for the Final to be held in Buckinghamshire in October.

ISEC are organising more qualifiers throughout the year. There is also a Show Jumping qualifier being held at Floors Horse Trials in May.

On April 3 we are holding our annual Easter Show.

On April 24, for the first time, we are hosting a 10 Mile Fun Ride around the farm. This ride will be open to all, with optional jumps, and all participants will enjoy a picnic lunch on completion. This is an ideal ‘first ride’ for those aiming at the Summer Common Ridings.

We are also offering a Common Riding boot camp, for £90 (prepaid) you receive 4x1 hour group lessons in April and May only.
