A band of teenagers from Kelso could be on their way to play at the O2 Arena in London as they compete to be crowned the Next Brit thing.
Bassment have already reached number one in the Next Brit Thing’s chart for Scottish competitors after promoting themselves around Kelso High School where the band members are pupils.
If they win, the prizes on offer include a recording session at the legendary Abbey Road studios, as well a share of £10,000 worth of music equipment, performing at the Royal Albert Hall and on ClassicFM, a track on the BRIT’s album and VIP BRIT Awards tickets.
Next Brit Thing is a major UK initiative to help young musicians aged 11 to 19 get their music heard and explore careers in the industry.
Jessie J, Pixie Lott and Chipmunk are among the music acts to support the project, as well as the BRIT Awards and the UK Government.
Voting closes on December 16 and to register support for Bassment, visit www.nextbritthing.com/profile/bassment
