On a bright and breezy day there was a good turnout of people from Kelso and the surrounding area for the regular Farmers’ Market held in the square.
The continued support of local people and tourists alike has enabled this not-for-profit organisation to, in turn, support local organisations.
On this occasion, three cheques, each for £500, were presented to Diane Henderson on behalf of the ACE Centre, Kelso, supporting youth programmes in the local area; to Charlotte Shortel, for the Morebattle Nursery for the under-fours and to Edith Brotherston for the Kelso Senior Citizens Group.
A guest appearance by head chef Mark Swinney from the Roxburgh Hotel provided an opportunity for people to see how to prepare and cook local foods.
Currently providing 24 stalls, Kelso Farmers’ Market works hard to achieve its aim in promoting locally-produced, good quality food.
The market is normally held on the fourth Saturday of each month from 9.30am until 1.30pm.
