HAWICK photographer John Parris has been elected the new president of the Master Photographers Association UK and Overseas.
John was presented with his presidential medal at the Master Photographers Association (MPA) photographer of the year awards by past president Hossain Mahdavi.
Celebrating its 60th year in 2013, the MPA is the UK’s only organisation for qualified and professional photographers, each having undergone a rigorous assessment of their work.
John said he was ‘very proud’ to have been given the high profile role, and is looking forward to increasing public awareness of the MPA and encouraging the use of members’ services.
The presidential role will see John travel throughout the UK in support of the MPA, helping educate members by providing advice on running a successful photographic business and ensuring the standard of photography remains at the highest level.
John added that one of his goals is to encourage more professional photographers to gain MPA qualifications.
John and wife Sandra, also a qualified master photographer, have been running Parris Photography for 15 years.
