Jewellery stolen in Peebles housebreaking

Police in the Scottish Borders are appealing for witnesses following a housebreaking in Peebles.

The incident happened between 7.30pm and 10.30pm on Tuesday, December 8, at an address in Haystoun Avenue.

A quantity of jewellery was stolen and officers are now conducting various local inquiries to trace those responsible.

Anyone with information that can assist with their investigation is asked to come forward.

Constable Corrine Peoples from the Galashiels Community Investigation Unit said: “The homeowner is obviously extremely upset at the theft of their belongings and we are progressing our inquiries to locate the stolen jewellery and return it.

“We would ask that anyone who remembers seeing any suspicious activity in Haystoun Avenue on Tuesday evening contacts police immediately.

“There have previously been two similar break-ins within this area over the past two months and as part of our investigation we are looking to establish whether these offences are all linked.

“Anyone who believes they have information that is relevant to our inquiry should get in touch.”
