THERE was a pleasant surprise in store for Isobel Ness of Melrose last week when she met two football stars.

Mrs Ness was a guest at the Leuchie House respite centre for multiple sclerosis sufferers in North Berwick when it was visited by former Scottish internationals Charlie Miller and Andy McLaren.

Miller, who played in midfield for Rangers, and ex-Dundee United winger McLaren were given a tour of the facility by its chairman, Sir David Tweedie, and director Mairi O’Keefe, hearing about the services provided at Leuchie which has recently been saved from closure.

Mrs Ness, pictured above with Andy McLaren, said the visiting pair had been “charming”.
